31 July 2010 The first ever mega geocaching event to be held in Scotland will be a major highlight of the Perth 800 sporting programme.
The event will be held in conjunction with Perthshire Big Tree Country and is expected to attract many hundreds of enthusiasts for this new outdoor sport.
Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by people of all ages and abilities who are equipped with GPS devices. The basic concept is to locate hidden containers in the great outdoors and then share experiences online.
All of the organisation for this event will be carried out by geocaching volunteers from around Scotland.

The Inches plays host to international athletics this autumn with the Perth Six Nations Ultrafest involving mens and womens distance running teams from Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, Italy and France racing over 100 km and 24 hour events. There are also supporting open, club and junior relays planned.
