St John’s Shopping Centre – Student Placement

Job title:              Marketing & Community Engagement Assistant (Intern)
Property:             St John’s Shopping Centre, Perth
Reporting To:     Centre Marketing Manager & Property Manager
Salary:                  Unpaid Placement - £250pcm expenses
Hours:                  2.5 days per week with a flexible working pattern available.
Start Date:          Between September and December 2019 for a period of 3 months.

This role would suit someone who is currently undertaking (but not limited to) a Marketing/ PR & Journalism/ Business Management type University Degree Course and is required to complete a placement as part of their course work.

Core Role: To assist the Centre Management Team, Landlord and Property Managers in all aspects of the Centre’s marketing, social media, events, promotional activity and mall commercialisation in line with the agreed marketing plan and service charge budget.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Promotion & Marketing: To assist the Marketing Manager with marketing support, and to assist with promotional activities in line with centre management requirements as outlined below.

  • Establish strong working relationships with tenants through regular contact, both face to face and written communication to achieve maximum engagement with centre marketing initiatives for mutual benefit.
  • Manage the collation and reporting of tenant trading analysis.
  • Create and maintain good relationships with the local authority and local community groups to encourage free entertainment and generate free publicity for the centre.
  • Work with the Centre Marketing Manager to maximise publicity and press coverage that delivers an appropriate image of the centre. 
  • Production of advertising and promotional material for in-house and external events.
  • Manage and update the centre website and social media with relevant content.
  • Collate and analyse available information relating to marketing activity, including footfall, Wi-Fi usage, social media and website user statistics to effectively focus and refine future marketing activity.
  • To create unique online content by taking photographs, using photo editing software or uploading appropriate materials that best deliver the intended message.
  • Identifying external media opportunities to promote St John’s Shopping Centre and to secure external coverage of key activities, projects and promotions.

 

Community Engagement:

  • Identify, develop and support existing and new community activities to increase and generate significant engagement.
  • Maintain and develop the external profile of St John’s Shopping Centre and develop links with and between our wider community partners.
  • Developing a network of strong relationships with local people and community groups to support timely information sharing on matters of local significance.

Start date to be confirmed. The start date would be confirmed at interview, in agreement with the requirements of the applicant and/ or University/ College.

Flexible part-time working pattern available over 2 and a half days per week, Monday – Friday, with days and hours to be discussed at interview.
