Sustainability

Like all responsible businesses operating in the 21st century, here at St John's Shopping Centre, we are committed to saving energy and reducing waste to help ensure that as an important player in the heart of Perth city, we are practising advocates of sustainability.

Of course saving energy, reducing emissions, cutting down on water are all excellent practices in their own right. But we believe that true sustainability is not only about setting bold emissions targets it is also about small changes to our daily business that can help us make a positive impact on our overall carbon footprint.
Here are just a few of the things we've put into place:

  • Waterless urinals have been installed in our management suite and in St. Martin's House offices, in order to reduce water consumption.
  • We have recently created a green habitat for insects within the centre's grounds, which has served to provide a valuable source of seeds and pollen for birds and bees.
  • Investment has been made this year to upgrade the centre lighting to LEDs and new heating plant has been installed to improve the efficiency of gas and electricity consumption in the centre going forward.
